Aurora rolls over Oakville, 7-1

The Aurora Tigers had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-1 win over the Oakville Blades.

Aurora was led by goalie Andy Munroe, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. Munroe managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.97 prior to the game.

The Tigers were sparked by Michael Laidley, who had one goal and one assist. Laidley scored on the power play 19:22 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Aurora. Aurora had taken the advantage when Oakville's Austin Clapham got sent off for tripping. Mihkel Poldma assisted on the tally.

The Tigers made Blades' netminders to work between the pipes, ripping 50 shots and forcing 43 saves. Brendan McGlynn made 17 stops and Evan Buitenhuis made 26. Aurora's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Oakville power plays. The Tigers bested their season scoring average. This season, Aurora averages 3.9 goals per contest.

Aurora additionally got points from Taylor McCloy, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Dylan Sikura, who also registered one goal and one assist, Kory Kennedy, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Eric Williams, who also had one goal and one assist, and Calvin Higley, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Aurora also got a goal from Curtis Warren as well. Other players who recorded assists for Aurora were Noah Delmas, Adam Power, and Robert Angiolella, who contributed one a piece.

The Blades did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Oakville puts an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game.

The Tigers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Blades ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. For Oakville, Greg Campbell was ejected from the game.
