Wiffen's hat trick boosts Trenton over Whitby, 4-1

Brady Wiffen netted a hat trick to lead the Trenton Golden Hawks over the Whitby Fury, 4-1.

Wiffen notched his first tally 5:18 into the first period. He then added goals at 5:44 into the second and at 18:52 into the second.

Trenton's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Whitby power plays. The Golden Hawks kept Whitby's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Feaver made 29 saves on 33 shots.

Trenton also got a goal from Danny Liscio as well. More assists for Trenton came via Tyler Mayea, who had two, Zach de Concilys, who had three, and Fabrizio Ricci, Jason Zaleski, and Bobby Polachek, who contributed one a piece.

The Fury did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Whitby averages 3.5 goals per game.

The Fury were led by Jeff Murray, who scored the team's only goal. Murray scored 5:29 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Taylor Best picked up the assist.

Trenton's starting goalie, Emerson Verrier, made 14 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Denny Dubblestyne, who stopped eight shots. The Golden Hawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Whitby incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
