The Milton Icehawks beat the Hamilton Red Wings, 4-2, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout. Milton took over the lead for good with a goal by Cooper Richards at 1:51 in the first period. The Icehawks had gained a power play chance when Mitch Reid was whistled for charging. Alex Riche provided the assist.Hamilton's power play was ineffective against Milton's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. The Icehawks were led by Kane Elliot, who tallied one goal. Elliot scored 1:29 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Milton. Ramon Lopez picked up the assist. Milton excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Icehawks' offense rang up 34 shots on the Red Wings' net.
