Aurora rolls over North York, 8-1

The North York Rangers had trouble finding ways to stop the Aurora Tigers, which beat Rangers, 8-1.

Robert Angiolella had two goals and one assist to lead Aurora. Angiolella scored the first of his two goals at 10:20 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Aurora. Kory Kennedy picked up the assist. Angiolella's next tally made the score 8-1 Aurora with 6:35 left in the third period. Arran MacDonald assisted on the tally.

The Tigers were led by goalie Andy Munroe, who finished with 28 saves while allowing one goal. Munroe certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.96 entering the contest.

Aurora made North York's goalies to work all game long, launching 35 shots and forcing 27 saves. Gianluca Baggetta made 12 stops and Jason Pucciarelli made 15. The Tigers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six North York power plays. Aurora bested its season scoring average. This season, the Tigers average 3.4 goals per contest. Aurora could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 38 minutes in penalties during the game.

Aurora additionally got points from Dylan Sikura, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Kennedy, who also had two goals and one assist. Aurora also got a goal from Michael Laidley as well. Other players who recorded assists for Aurora were Calvin Higley, who had two and Michael Keenan, Taylor McCloy, Noah Delmas, Tyler Boston, Kyle Liu, Eric Williams, Mihkel Poldma, and Jake Gilmour, who contributed one a piece.

The Rangers did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. North York puts an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. The Rangers were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 36 penalty minutes.

The Tigers registered two goals on 11 power play opportunities.
