Gottzmann's goals lift Burlington to 4-1 victory over KingstonWave Twin Rinks - Black Sun, Oct 13, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Burlington Cougars relied on the scoring touch of Jeremy Gottzmann, who netted two goals, to beat the Kingston Voyageurs, 4-1. Gottzmann's tallies came at 12:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Burlington and 19:40 into the second to make the score 3-1 Burlington.Burlington was led by goalie Morton Josh, who finished with 39 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Josh will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.11. Burlington also got points from Tyler Lepore, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Neil Aird also scored for Burlington. Other players who recorded assists for Burlington were Carl Greco, who had one and Jordan Brown, Steven Mueller, and Cooper Richards, who contributed two a piece. Kingston put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Cougars to score on any of their five power plays. The Voyageurs' offense rang up 40 shots on Burlington's net. Kingston was led by Wyatt Cota, who scored the team's only goal. Cota scored on the power play 15:10 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Voyageurs had taken the advantage when the Cougars' Brad Johnson got sent off for high sticking. Cole Bolton provided the assist. Burlington ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. The Cougars ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Skillicorn Garrek was ejected from the game. Kingston's Ethan Wood stopped 26 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Voyageurs incurred 38 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
