Georgetown stifles Mississauga's comeback, gains 6-4 victory

The Georgetown Raiders, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Georgetown and clinched a 6-4 victory.

The Raiders led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Georgetown's Liam Board's scored on the power play at 12:40 in the second period to put the Raiders up 5-2.

Georgetown got the win on the strength of a great game by Board, who had two goals and one assist.

The Raiders made the Mississauga Chargers' netminders to work without much rest, ripping 47 shots and forcing 41 saves. Austin Washkurak made 23 stops and Alex Lepore made 18. Georgetown found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Raiders average 3.8 goals per game.

Georgetown also got points from Steve Hladin, who also tallied one goal and two assists and John Adams, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Georgetown also got a goal from Anthony Marra as well. Other players who recorded assists for Georgetown were Steve Midensky, Brendan Jacome, and Adam Nanji, who contributed one a piece.

Georgetown was unable to stop Mississauga from sending pucks towards the net, and the Chargers eventually piled up 41 shots on goal.

Mississauga was helped by Michael Florindo, who finished with one goal and one assist. Florindo scored 4:50 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Georgetown. Thomas Lattavo picked up the assist. Mississauga additionally got points from Vince Figliomeni, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Stefano Alonzi also scored for Mississauga. More assists for Mississauga came via Cory Hyashi, who had two and Jackson Howe and Patrick Mooney, who each chipped in one.

Michael McNiven rejected 37 shots on goal for the Raiders. Georgetown incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Chargers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For Mississauga, Nick Tetley was ejected from the game.
