Milton rides Lewis to victory over Cobourg, 2-1Milton Memorial Arena Fri, Oct 11, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
A stellar performance between the pipes by Tyler Lewis helped the Milton Icehawks defeat the Cobourg Cougars, 2-1. Milton was sparked by Kane Elliot, who registered one goal and one assist. Elliot scored 13:29 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Milton. Ryan Burns provided the assist. The Icehawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Cobourg to score on any of its four power plays. Karndeep Natt also scored for Milton. In addition, Milton received assists from Jake Baird, who had two. The Cougars forced Milton goalie Lewis to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. Cobourg was led by Mark MacAulay, who scored the team's only goal. MacAulay scored 2:58 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Cobourg. Taylor Gauld picked up the assist. Lewis recorded 35 saves for the Icehawks. Milton incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Cougars' Nathan Perry stopped 28 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Cobourg incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Cougars ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Theo Lewis was ejected from the game.
