Toronto Lakeshore hangs on, beats Kingston 2-0INVISTA Center Thu, Oct 10, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Tyler Currie scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots held off the challenges of the Kingston Voyageurs in a tough 2-0 win. A goal 6:49 into the the first period by Currie proved to be the game winner, and powered Toronto Lakeshore to the victory The Patriots had gotten the advantage when Kingston's Patrick Volpe was sent off for hooking. Niko Kovachis provided the assist.Jeremy Helvig frustrated the Voyageurs' offense all game, and stopped 41 shots en route to a shutout. Helvig certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.69 entering the contest. Toronto Lakeshore was led by Currie, who had one goal. The Patriots' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Kingston power plays. Toronto Lakeshore could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Patriots average 4.3 goals per game. Toronto Lakeshore also got points from Kevin Shier, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Toronto Lakeshore came via Cory Laver and Jack OHara, who each chipped in one. Kingston was held below its usual level of production. The Voyageurs put an average of 3.0 pucks into the net per game. Kingston's offense rang up 41 shots on Toronto Lakeshore's net. The Patriots incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors. Alex Brooks-Potts made 26 saves for the Voyageurs on 28 shots. Kingston incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
