Verrier leads Trenton to shutout victory over CobourgCobourg Community Centre Mon, Oct 07, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Emerson Verrier was superb between the pipes for the Trenton Golden Hawks, as he did not allow a goal in a 3-0 victory over the Cobourg Cougars. Brady Wiffen had two goals to lead Trenton to victory. Wiffen scored at 6:44 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Trenton and again while 6:48 into the third to make the score 3-0 Trenton. The Golden Hawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Cobourg power plays. Trenton's defensive effort looked to be improved. The Golden Hawks average 2.4 goals allowed per game. Fabrizio Ricci also scored for Trenton. More assists for Trenton came via Jason Zaleski, who had two and Tyler Mayea, Andrew McCann, Danny Liscio, and Tyler Sehovic, who each chipped in one. Cobourg did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Cougars average 2.6 goals per game. Verrier recorded 29 saves for Trenton. The Golden Hawks incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Nathan Perry rejected 22 shots on goal for Cobourg. The Cougars incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
