Stouffville outlasts Georgetown, 4-3Stouffville Arena Sun, Oct 06, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Stouffville Spirit gutted out a close 4-3 win against the Georgetown Raiders. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Michael Morgan secured the win for Stouffville with a goal in the third period. The Spirit were led by Morgan, who had one goal. Morgan scored on the power play 9:03 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Stouffville. A cross checking penalty on Andrew Court had put Stouffville on the power play. Peyton Backus assisted on the tally. In the losing effort, Georgetown was sparked by John Adams, who racked up two goals and one assist. Adams scored the first of his two goals at 7:17 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Adam Nanji picked up the assist. Adams' next tally made the score 4-4 with 47 seconds left in the third period. The Raiders were unable to stop the Spirit from sending pucks towards the net, and Stouffville eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. Tyson Bruce also scored for Stouffville. Other players who recorded assists for Stouffville were Matthew Heffernan, Liam ODette, Dakota Redshaw, Michael Stevens, and Justin Wain, who contributed one a piece. Georgetown forced the Spirit goalie Daniel Mannella to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Georgetown also got a goal from Steve Midensky as well. More assists for Georgetown came via Gavin Shantz, Anthony Marra, and Liam Board, who each chipped in one. Daniel Mannella made 30 saves for Stouffville on 33 shots. The Spirit incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Michael Stiliadis rejected 29 shots on goal for the Raiders. Georgetown incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
