Kingston squeaks by Buffalo, 6-4

The game between the Kingston Voyageurs and the Buffalo Jr. Sabres was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Kingston emerged with a 6-4 win.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Cole Bolton at 16:11 of the third period.

The Voyageurs were paced by Bolton, who had one goal.

Kingston was often in penalty trouble, totaling 11 minors and one major for 57 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 19.0 minutes per game the Voyageurs had been spending in the box. Kingston's offense rang up 53 shots on Buffalo's net. The Voyageurs found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Kingston has scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign.

Kingston additionally got points from Brett Seney, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Brody Heleno, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Kingston also got a goal from Maxim Pitre as well. In addition, Kingston received assists from Spencer Green, who had two and Blake ONeill, Zachary Emelifeonwu, Mason Nowak, Wyatt Cota, Jarret Kup, and Brett Du Puy, who contributed one a piece.

The Jr. Sabres forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. Buffalo surpassed its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. The Jr. Sabres put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Voyageurs to score on any of their three power plays. Kingston was unable to stop Buffalo from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jr. Sabres eventually piled up 55 shots on goal.

Buffalo was helped by Pat Egan, who registered one goal. Egan scored on the power play 1:20 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Buffalo. A goalie interference penalty on Pitre had put the Jr. Sabres on the power play. Mason Evans provided the assist. Buffalo also got points from Nick Desimone, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Michael Ederer also scored for Buffalo. More assists for Buffalo came via Nico Gonzalez, who had two and Darren McCormick, Max Mikowski, and Ben Casale, who each chipped in one.

Alex Brooks-Potts rejected 51 shots on goal for the Voyageurs. Kingston ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Adam Moodie was ejected from the game. Buffalo's Joseph Pianta stopped 47 shots out of the 53 that he faced. The Jr. Sabres registered three goals on 12 power play opportunities. Team's Nathan Black and Egan were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
