Munroe stymies Newmarket, Aurora wins 4-1

Andy Munroe had a standout game with 35 saves, and the Aurora Tigers beat the Newmarket Hurricanes 4-1.

Aurora was led by Drake Board, who finished with one goal and one assist. Board scored on the power play 14:34 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Aurora. A tripping penalty on Brycin Morrison had put the Tigers on the power play. Calvin Higley assisted on the tally.

Aurora additionally got points from Kory Kennedy, who also registered one goal and one assist. Callum Fryer also scored for Aurora. Other players who recorded assists for Aurora were Kyle Liu and Eric Williams, who each chipped in one.

Newmarket's offense operated below it season average. The Hurricanes average 4.6 goals per game. Newmarket's offense rang up 36 shots on Aurora's net.

The Hurricanes were led by Oshowy Jordan, who scored the team's only goal. Jordan scored on the power play 13:55 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Newmarket. Newmarket earned a power play opportunity when Adam DiBrina was put in the box for tripping. Thomas Beretta provided the assist.

The Tigers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Jake Danson rejected 26 shots on goal for the Hurricanes. Newmarket incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
