Georgetown falls to Kingston after surprising comebackINVISTA Center Thu, Sep 26, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Kingston Voyageurs rallied from two goals down to secure a 3-2 win over the Georgetown Raiders. Kingston never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Voyageurs was down 2-0 after a goal by Georgetown's Anthony Marra at 2:54 in the third period. Kingston knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Alex Tonge at 12:33 in the third period. The Voyageurs netted the game winner on the power play at 19:18 in the third period on a goal by Tonge. Kingston was paced by Mason Nowak, who racked up one goal. The Voyageurs kept the Raiders' goalie busy throughout the game, and Michael Stiliadis made 38 saves on 41 shots. Kingston also got a goal from Spencer Green as well. More assists for Kingston came via Brett Seney, Adam Brady, Patrick Volpe, Jarret Kup, and Brett Du Puy, who contributed one a piece. Georgetown could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. The Raiders were helped by Adam Nanji, who tallied one goal. Nanji scored on the power play 6:45 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Georgetown. Georgetown had gained a power play chance when Joey Rutkowski was whistled for high sticking. Marra assisted on the tally. Georgetown also got points from Marra, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Gavin Shantz, Liam Clare, and Liam Board, who each chipped in one. Alex Brooks-Potts rejected 27 shots on goal for Kingston. The Voyageurs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Raiders registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Georgetown ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Steve Midensky was ejected from the game.
