Buffalo stifles Trenton's comeback, gains 4-2 victory

The Buffalo Jr. Sabres, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Buffalo and clinched a 4-2 victory.

The Jr. Sabres led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Buffalo's Max Mikowski's scored at 15:41 in the second period to put the Jr. Sabres up 4-1.

Buffalo pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 21 penalty minutes.

The Jr. Sabres were led by Ryan Kuhn, who tallied one goal. Kuhn scored 14:42 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Buffalo. Darren McCormick assisted on the tally.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 9:35 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Ben Casale also scored for Buffalo. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were Dennis Gilbert, Ryan Schmelzer, Michael Ederer, Nick Desimone, Dylan Gamble, and Nick Smith, who contributed one a piece.

The Trenton Golden Hawks racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. Trenton had been averaging 17.0 minutes in penalties per game.

The Golden Hawks were helped by Zach de Concilys, who registered one goal. De Concilys scored on the power play 11:47 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Buffalo. Trenton had gotten the advantage when Buffalo's Casale was sent off for high sticking. Jason Zaleski picked up the assist. Trenton additionally got points from Zaleski, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Trenton received assists from Tyler Sehovic, who had one and Nick Boddy, who had two.

Joseph Pianta made 23 saves for the Jr. Sabres on 25 shots. Buffalo registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. For the Jr. Sabres, Nico Gonzalez was ejected from the game. Emerson Verrier rejected 24 shots on goal for the Golden Hawks. Trenton registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. The Golden Hawks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brett Seldon was ejected from the game.
