Hamilton squeaks by Toronto, 4-2Mountain Arena Mon, Sep 23, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Hamilton Red Wings and the Toronto Junior Canadiens were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Hamilton made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Christiano DiGiacinto at 16:29 of the third period. The Red Wings were paced by DiGiacinto, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Hamilton excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Corey Caruso also scored for Hamilton. Other players who recorded assists for Hamilton were Connor Bramwell, Cole Poliziani, Jason OConnor, and Liam Bird, who each chipped in one. Toronto was helped by Aaron Spivak, who had one goal. Spivak scored 14:42 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Zack Bishop picked up the assist. Toronto also got a goal from Aaron Thow as well. In addition, Toronto received assists from Anthony Repaci, who had one. Mark Sinclair recorded 17 saves for the Red Wings. Hamilton incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Red Wings, Mitch Reid was ejected from the game. Daniel Lopapa made 14 saves for the Junior Canadiens on 17 shots. Toronto incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Junior Canadiens ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Michael Cuddemi was ejected from the game.
