Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Whitby Fury defeated the Aurora Tigers in a shootout 2-1 (2-1 SO). The two teams needed 14 turns to complete the shootout. Aurora got a shootout goal from Robert Angiolella. Whitby also got a shootout goal from Taylor Best.The Fury were led by goalie Boyd Diclemente, who finished with 41 saves while allowing one goal. Diclemente managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.94 prior to the game. Whitby stifled the Tigers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Fury were led by Jeff Murray, who had one goal. Murray scored on the power play 3:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Whitby. Whitby had gotten the advantage when Aurora's Adam DiBrina was sent off for high sticking. Best assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Mike Panowyk, who had one. The Fury were unable to stop the Tigers from sending pucks towards the net, and Aurora eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. The Tigers were led by Kory Kennedy, who scored the team's only goal. Kennedy scored 48 seconds into the third period to make the score 1-1. Kyle Liu provided the assist. Whitby incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Aurora's Andy Munroe stopped 28 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Tigers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
