Wellington rolls over Georgetown, 4-1Wellington CC Fri, Sep 20, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Wellington Dukes had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the Georgetown Raiders. Georgetown was stymied by Wellington netminder Lucas Machalski, who stopped 37 shots during the victory. The solid play of Machalski will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.01. The Dukes got the win on the strength of a great game by Mike Soucier, who had one goal and two assists. Soucier scored on the power play 13:45 into the first period to make the score 1-1. A slashing penalty on Steve Midensky had put Wellington on the power play. Andrew Coupland picked up the assist. The Dukes' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Georgetown power plays. The Raiders were unable to stop Wellington from sending pucks towards the net, and the Dukes eventually piled up 48 shots on goal. Wellington additionally got points from Coupland, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Erick Delaurentis, who also had one goal and one assist, and Steven Deeg, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Wellington received assists from Trevor Cope and Cody Gratton, who contributed one a piece. Georgetown did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season.
