Hamilton stifles Georgetown's comeback, gains 5-3 victory

The Hamilton Red Wings, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Hamilton and clinched a 5-3 victory.

The Red Wings led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Hamilton's Garnet Batrynchok's scored at 19:16 in the third period to put the Red Wings up 6-3.

Hamilton was sparked by Christiano DiGiacinto, who racked up one goal. DiGiacinto scored 16:44 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Hamilton. Josh Chiarot picked up the assist.

The Red Wings' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Georgetown power plays.

Niko Porikos also scored for Hamilton. Other players who recorded assists for Hamilton were Luke Sinclair, who had two and Brandon Kolaski, Jason OConnor, and Chance MacDonald, who each chipped in one.

The Georgetown Raiders excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Georgetown kept Hamilton's goalie busy throughout the game, and Corey Foster made 40 saves on 43 shots.

The Raiders were helped by Anthony Marra, who registered one goal. Marra scored 7:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Georgetown. Liam Board assisted on the tally. Georgetown additionally got points from Steve Hladin, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Georgetown also got a goal from Ryan Smith as well. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Alan Nanji and Adam Nanji, who contributed one a piece.

The Red Wings incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Hamilton ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Liam Bird was ejected from the game. Michael Stiliadis recorded 21 saves for Georgetown. The Raiders incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
