Toronto wins tough contest against Mississauga, 3-2

The Toronto Junior Canadiens and the Mississauga Chargers were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Toronto made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Anthony Repaci's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Kennedy Duguid had a great game for the Junior Canadiens, netting two goals. Duguid found the back of the net on the power play 11:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toronto and again while on the power play 12:58 into the third to make the score 2-2.

Mississauga was unable to stop Toronto from sending pucks towards the net, and the Junior Canadiens eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Toronto also got points from Repaci, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Toronto received assists from Aaron Thow, who had two and Luca Farrace, Mark Spadafora, and Connor Prudames, who contributed one a piece.

The Chargers forced Toronto goalie Michael Bullion to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Mississauga could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Chargers were helped by Zackery Landsfield, who racked up one goal. Landsfield scored 4:45 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Aaron Dutra picked up the assist. Trevor Warnaar also scored for Mississauga. More assists for Mississauga came via Ryan Hunter, Nick Tetley, and Vince Figliomeni, who each chipped in one.

The Junior Canadiens' Bullion stopped 30 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Toronto totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 3-for-6 on the power play. For the Junior Canadiens, Joseph Benvenuto was ejected from the game. Alex Lepore made 28 saves for Mississauga on 31 shots. The Chargers registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
