Emerson Verrier had a standout game with 40 saves, and the Trenton Golden Hawks beat the Whitby Fury 3-1.

Whitby's power play was ineffective against Trenton's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Golden Hawks were led by Nick Santoro, who registered one goal. Santoro scored 15:34 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Trenton. Tyler Donaldson provided the assist.

Trenton excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. The Golden Hawks were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 22 penalty minutes.

Trenton also got a goal from Andrew McCann as well. In addition, Trenton received assists from Danny Liscio, Brett Seldon, Bobby Polachek, and Hunter Fargey, who each chipped in one.

The Fury could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Whitby averages 3.7 goals per game. The Fury forced Trenton goalie Verrier to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Whitby was led by Nick Neal, who scored the team's only goal. Neal scored 4:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Whitby. Greg Milner assisted on the tally.

The Golden Hawks registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Boyd Diclemente made 24 saves for the Fury on 27 shots. Whitby incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
