Toronto outlasts Orangeville, 3-2Alder St. Recreation Centre Sat, Sep 14, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Toronto Junior Canadiens gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Orangeville Flyers. No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Jake Walman at 13:20 of the third period. Toronto's penalty kill excelled, as the Junior Canadiens gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays. Toronto was paced by Walman, who tallied one goal. The Junior Canadiens stifled Orangeville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Toronto kept the Flyers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Taylor Welsh made 35 saves on 38 shots. Toronto also got points from Anthony Repaci, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Toronto also got a goal from Michael Cuddemi as well. More assists for Toronto came via Ryan MacSpadyen, who had one and Joseph Benvenuto, who had two. Orangeville was helped by Angelpooulos Peter, who racked up one goal. Peter scored 5:05 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Orangeville. Mathew Thompson picked up the assist. Wyatt Weppler also scored for Orangeville. In addition, Orangeville received assists from Devon Gillham and Ian Nichols, who each chipped in one. Daniel Lopapa recorded 23 saves for the Junior Canadiens. Toronto incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Junior Canadiens, Kennedy Duguid was ejected from the game. The Flyers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Orangeville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nichols was ejected from the game.
