Wellington survives Kingston comeback, wins 4-3

The Kingston Voyageurs almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Wellington Dukes managed to pull out a 4-3 win in the end.

Wellington led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Dukes' Spencer Turcotte's scored at 17:20 in the first period to put Wellington up 3-0.

The Dukes were led by Steven Deeg, who tallied one goal. Deeg scored 18 seconds into the third period to make the score 4-2 Wellington. Erick Delaurentis assisted on the tally.

Wellington also got points from Delaurentis, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Wellington received assists from Mike Soucier, who had two and Jacob Panetta and Cody Gratton, who contributed one a piece.

Kingston's offense rang up 43 shots on Wellington's net. The Voyageurs gave up more goals than its normal season average. Kingston averages 1.7 goal allowed per game. Team could not crack the Dukes' penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage.

The Voyageurs were helped by Jarret Kup, who finished with one goal. Kup scored on the power play 7:22 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Wellington. Kingston had gained a power play chance when Trevor Abbot was whistled for interference. Spencer Green picked up the assist. Mason Nowak also scored for Kingston. More assists for Kingston came via Brett Seney, who had two and Alex Tonge, Brett Du Puy, and Charles Dube, who each chipped in one.

Lucas Machalski made 40 saves for Wellington on 43 shots. The Dukes incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. The Voyageurs' Gunner Rivers stopped 23 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Kingston incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
