Egan's big game bests Toronto Lakeshore in 8-4 Buffalo win

The Buffalo Jr. Sabres' Pat Egan had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 8-4 win over the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots.

Egan beat Jeremy Helvig with a shot 12:07 into the second period to make the score 5-0 Buffalo. Nolan Sheeran assisted on the tally. Egan dished an assist on Darren McCormick's goal that made the score 6-0 Buffalo at 17:54 into the second period. He added another helper on Sheeran's goal that made the score 7-3 Buffalo at 10:37 into the third period.

Buffalo forced Patriots' goalies to work all game long, taking 31 shots and forcing 23 saves. Helvig made 18 stops and Mark Manolescu made five. The Jr. Sabres outdid their season average for goals scored. Buffalo has scored at the pace of 4.7 goals per game during the current campaign. The Jr. Sabres took advantage of Toronto Lakeshore's penalties, tallying three goals off of five power play opportunities.

Buffalo also got points from Daniel Lafontaine, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Sheeran, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Buffalo also got a goal from Michael Ederer as well. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were Dennis Gilbert, Ryan Schmelzer, Ryan Kuhn, Nick Desimone, and Tim Kielich, who contributed one a piece and Mason Evans and Max Mikowski, who each chipped in two.

The Patriots was effective with a man advantage, and put in two goals while on the power play.

Toronto Lakeshore was led by Kevin Shier, who tallied two goals and one assist. Shier scored the first of his two goals at 10:09 into the third period to make the score 6-3 Buffalo. Jack OHara provided the assist. Shier's next tally made the score 7-4 Buffalo with 8:08 left in the third period. The Patriots had taken the advantage when Buffalo's Kielich got sent off for interference. Michael Prapavessis picked up the assist. Andreas Tsogkas also scored for Toronto Lakeshore. More assists for Toronto Lakeshore came via Jacob Hayhurst, Nathan Feric, and Rory Bell, who contributed one a piece.

Joseph Pianta recorded 19 saves for the Jr. Sabres. Buffalo incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Toronto Lakeshore incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
