Oakville rides Buitenhuis to victory over Milton, 2-1Sixteen Mile Sports Complex Fri, Sep 06, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Evan Buitenhuis stood on his head and made 35 saves to lead the Oakville Blades to a 2-1 victory over the Milton Icehawks. Oakville pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes. The Blades were led by Ryan Garvey, who grabbed one goal. Garvey scored on the power play 17:35 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Oakville. Oakville had taken the advantage when Milton's Tye Campbell got sent off for too many men. Greg Campbell assisted on the tally. The Blades' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Milton power plays. Greg Allen also scored for Oakville. More assists for Oakville came via Mark Bzowey, Daniel Jelic, and Marcel Fatovic, who contributed one a piece. The Icehawks' offense rang up 36 shots on Oakville's net. Milton was led by Alex Riche, who scored the team's only goal. Riche scored 13:55 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Stephan Templeton picked up the assist. The Blades registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. For Oakville, Ross Sloan was ejected from the game. Ben Blacker rejected 28 shots on goal for the Icehawks. Milton incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
