Cornwall hangs on, beats Brockville 1-0Ed Lumley Arena Thu, Mar 06, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Tanner Spink scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Cornwall Colts held off the challenges of the Brockville Braves in a tough 1-0 win. Spink provided Cornwall with the game-winning tally when he scored 18:05 into the the first period. Grant Cooper assisted on the tally.The Colts were boosted by Anthony Kuhnreich, who turned in a shutout with 28 saves. Kuhnreich certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.7 entering the contest. Cornwall was led by Spink, who racked up one goal. The Colts excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Cornwall forced Brockville goalie David Poirier to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Lawson MacDougall, who had one. The Braves' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Cornwall power plays. Brockville was held below its usual level of production. The Braves put an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game. The Colts incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Poirier rejected 30 shots on goal for Brockville. The Braves incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. |
