Cornwall beats Gloucester 4-2 after comeback scareEd Lumley Arena Mon, Mar 03, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Cornwall Colts survived a determined comeback attempt by the Gloucester Rangers on the way to a 4-2 win. Cornwall made the score 4-0 on a goal by Lawson MacDougall at 10:56 in the second period, and Gloucester got as close as 4-2 when Max Veronneau scored 4:55 into the third period. The Colts made the Rangers' goalies to work without much rest, finishing with 41 shots and forcing 37 saves. Cory Garrow made 21 stops and Doug Johnston made 16. Cornwall was helped by Billy Ulrick, who grabbed one goal. Ulrick scored 1:41 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Cornwall. Lawson MacDonald picked up the assist. Cornwall additionally got points from Marly Quince, who also registered one goal and one assist. Tanner Spink also scored for Cornwall. More assists for Cornwall came via Ryan Patulli, who had two and Benjamin Poirier, Parker Krol, Matthew Cruickshank, and Kevin Hope, who each chipped in one. Gloucester put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Colts to score on any of their five power plays. Gloucester also got a goal from Matt Rosebrook as well. Other players who recorded assists for Gloucester were Dylan McDiarmid, Ryan Kuffner, Matt Foget, and Greg Jansz, who contributed one a piece. James Edwardson made 22 saves for Cornwall on 24 shots. The Colts incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Rangers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
