Larson's hat trick boosts xPembroke over Gloucester, 8-4

The Gloucester Rangers could not stop the xPembroke Lumber Kings' Jordan Larson, who tallied a hat trick in an 8-4 win.

Larson got on the scoresheet 16:29 into the first period. He then added goals at 1:07 into the second and at 19:59 into the third.

xPembroke's penalty kill excelled, as the Lumber Kings gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

xPembroke made Gloucester's goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 36 shots and forcing 28 saves. Nate Skidmore made 21 stops and Doug Johnston made seven. The Lumber Kings stifled the Rangers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. xPembroke outdid its season average for goals scored. The Lumber Kings average 3.6 goals per game.

xPembroke additionally got points from Mark Petaccio, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Felix Chamberland, who also registered one goal and one assist. xPembroke also had goals scored by Brandon Kosik, Lucas Gonu, and Steven Johnston, who each put in one. More assists for xPembroke came via Colin Kruse, Ryan Erickson, Patrice Wren, Stephan Beauvais, and Jake Staples, who contributed one a piece and Sam Gleason and Keegan Harper, who each chipped in two.

Gloucester excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Others who scored for Gloucester included Matt Rosebrook, Ryan Kuffner, Greg Jansz, and Stevie Ray Adams, who scored one goal each. In addition, Gloucester received assists from Matt Foget and Ethan MacLean, who contributed one a piece.

xPembroke's Darren Smith stopped 25 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Lumber Kings incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Rangers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
