Brockville rides Pikul to victory over Cumberland, 5-1

The Brockville Braves relied on the sparkling performance of Andrew Pikul in net to grab a 5-1 win against the Cumberland Grads.

Brockville was sparked by Cory Wilson, who tallied one goal. Wilson scored on the power play 11:14 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Brockville. The Braves had gotten the advantage when Cumberland's Maxime St.Pierre was sent off for hooking. Ryan Cusin picked up the assist.

Brockville made the Grads' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 39 shots and forcing 34 saves. Reilly Turner made 13 stops and Kevin Gollmer made 21. The Braves excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Brockville also got points from Cusin, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Brockville included Jared Henry, Connor Bebb, and Sean King, who each put in one. In addition, Brockville received assists from Jonathan Power, who had two and Jack Billings, Nathan Todd, and Michael Murray, who contributed one a piece.

Cumberland was led by Nicholas Ford, who scored the team's only goal. Ford scored 39 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-1 Brockville. Travis Douglas assisted on the tally.

Pikul rejected 26 shots on goal for Brockville. The Braves incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Grads incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
