yCarleton Place outlasts xKemptville, 5-4

The yCarleton Place Canadians gutted out a close 5-4 win against the xKemptville 73s.

yCarleton Place gained the winning advantage on a goal by Anthony McVeigh 14:00 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

McVeigh had a great game for the Canadians, netting two goals.

yCarleton Place's offense rang up 38 shots on xKemptville's net.

yCarleton Place also got points from Owen Stewart, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Andy Sturtz, who also had two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. yCarleton Place also got a goal from Anthony Latina as well. More assists for yCarleton Place came via Brett DAndrea, who had one and Larry Smith, Stephen Baylis, and Evan Peterson, who each chipped in two.

The 73s stifled the Canadians' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

xKemptville was helped by Jesse Blais, who registered two goals. Blais scored the first of his two goals at 4:17 into the third period to make the score 4-3 yCarleton Place. Brandon Seatter picked up the assist. Blais' next tally made the score 6-4 yCarleton Place with 6:29 left in the third period. The 73s had gained a power play chance when Brett Everson was whistled for high sticking. Seatter assisted on the tally. xKemptville additionally got points from Erik Brown, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Alex Row, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, xKemptville received assists from Jonathon Masters, Daniele Disipio, and Jacob Tugnutt, who contributed one a piece.

Patrick Kealey made 20 saves for yCarleton Place on 24 shots. The Canadians incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Tugnutt recorded 33 saves for xKemptville. The 73s incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
