Carleton Place takes care of Cornwall early, wins 10-1Carleton Place Arena Mon, Feb 17, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Carleton Place Canadians opened up a four-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to a 10-1 over the Cornwall Colts. Evan Peterson was all over the ice for Carleton Place, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Peterson scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 8:08 into the second period to make the score 6-0 Carleton Place. The Canadians had gained a power play chance when Lawson MacDougall was whistled for tripping. Kelly Summers picked up the assist. Peterson's next tally on the power play made the score 7-0 Carleton Place with 15:18 left in the third period. Andy Sturtz assisted on the tally. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 9:56 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Carleton Place forced Cornwall's netminders to work between the pipes, launching 41 shots and forcing 31 saves. James Edwardson made 23 stops and Anthony Kuhnreich made eight. The Canadians put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Colts to score on any of their five power plays. Carleton Place bested its season scoring average. This season, the Canadians average 4.8 goals per contest. Carleton Place also got points from Adam Lloyd, who also had one goal and one assist, Anthony Latina, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Sturtz, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Andrew Dodson, who also registered one goal and two assists, Anthony McVeigh, who also had one goal and one assist, and Craig Pefley, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Carleton Place also got a goal from Dylan Gareau as well. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Brett DAndrea, who had three and Tyson Stewart, Stephen Baylis, and Blair Barr, who each chipped in one. Carleton Place's Guillaume Therien stopped 19 shots out of the 20 that he faced. The Canadians totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. Carleton Place ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Baylis was ejected from the game. Cornwall ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For the Colts, Ryan Patulli was ejected from the game.
