Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Cumberland Grads defeated the Cornwall Colts in a shootout 6-5 (1-0 SO). The two teams needed five turns to complete the shootout.Cumberland saw a three-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. The Grads made the score 5-2 on a goal by Mark Golberg at 7:49 in the third period. Cornwall evened things up at 5-5 on a goal by Pierre Ouellette at 19:49 in the third period. Martin Frechette was all over the ice for Cumberland, as he had two goals in the win. Frechette's tallies came at 4:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cumberland and 17:57 into the second to make the score 4-2 Cumberland. The Colts were unable to stop the Grads from sending pucks towards the net, and Cumberland eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. The Grads surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Cumberland averages 2.7 goals per contest. Cumberland additionally got points from Riley Hennigar, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Golberg, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cumberland also got a goal from Travis Douglas as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cumberland were Matthew Morin, who had two and David Bennett, Bobby Williams, Nicholas Ford, Maxime St.Pierre, and Dylan McDonald, who each chipped in one. In addition, Cornwall received assists from Cal Hofford, who had three and Ross Craig, Parker Krol, Kenny Nelson, Ryan Patulli, and Kevin Hope, who contributed one a piece. Reilly Turner recorded 40 saves for Cumberland. The Grads incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Anthony Kuhnreich made 29 saves for the Colts on 34 shots. Cornwall incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
