Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Smiths Falls Bears defeated the Cornwall Colts in a shootout 3-2 (2-1 SO). The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams. Cornwall got a shootout goal from Marly Quince. In addition to the clincher, Smiths Falls got a shootout goal from Stefano Momesso.The Bears came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Smiths Falls was down 2-1 after a goal by the Colts' Pierre Ouellette at 5:28 in the second period. The Bears knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Nic Marchand at 6:37 in the third period. Smiths Falls excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Cornwall was unable to stop the Bears from sending pucks towards the net, and Smiths Falls eventually piled up 48 shots on goal. The Bears were helped by Zachary Senyshyn, who tallied one goal. Senyshyn scored 13:17 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Smiths Falls. Brandon McMartin picked up the assist. In addition, Smiths Falls received assists from Chris MacMillan and Michael Buonincontri, who contributed one a piece. The Colts stifled Smiths Falls' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Cornwall additionally got points from Quince, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Cal Hofford, Dean Derouchie, and Kenny Nelson, who each chipped in one. Cory Simic recorded 20 saves for the Bears. Smiths Falls incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. James Edwardson made 45 saves for Cornwall on 47 shots. The Colts incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
