Cornwall survives penalties, beats Kanata, 6-3

Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Cornwall Colts were able to defeat the Kanata Stallions, 6-3.

Cornwall stifled Kanata's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Colts found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Cornwall averages 2.9 goals per game.

The Colts were helped by Pierre Ouellette, who tallied one goal and two assists. Ouellette scored 19:14 into the first period to make the score 4-1 Cornwall. Kenny Nelson picked up the assist. Cornwall additionally got points from Marly Quince, who also had one goal and three assists and Billy Ulrick, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Cornwall included Cal Hofford, Dean Derouchie, and Kevin Hope, who each put in one. More assists for Cornwall came via Parker Krol, who had two and Ross Craig and Grant Cooper, who each chipped in one.

The Stallions' offense rang up 36 shots on Cornwall's net. Kanata's penalty kill unit could not stop the Colts' power play, which converted on two of three opportunities.

The Stallions were led by Chris Harper, who finished with one goal and two assists. Harper scored 11:28 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Cornwall. Connor Cobbold provided the assist. Kanata also had goals scored by Ben Fanjoy and Alex Stothart, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Kanata were Braedan Moffatt, who had one and Jeremy Carignan, who had two.

Anthony Kuhnreich recorded 33 saves for Cornwall. The Colts incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Cole Skinner made 12 saves before being replaced by Daniel McCarthy, who took the loss and made seven saves. Kanata incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
