Pembroke outlasts Cumberland, 3-2Pembroke Memorial Center Sun, Feb 09, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Pembroke Lumber Kings and the Cumberland Grads were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Pembroke made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2. Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Felix Chamberland's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Chamberland had two goals and one assist to lead the Lumber Kings. Chamberland scored the first of his two goals at 19:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pembroke. Chamberland's next tally made the score 3-2 Pembroke with 2:58 left in the third period. Sam Gleason picked up the assist. Pembroke also got a goal from Steven Johnston as well. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Colin Kruse, who had two. Cumberland's offense rang up 35 shots on Pembroke's net. The Grads were helped by Brett Faber, who finished with one goal. Faber scored 12:52 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Brandon Zullo provided the assist. Travis Douglas also scored for Cumberland. Other players who recorded assists for Cumberland were Riley Hennigar and Dylan McDonald, who each chipped in one. Sean Keating recorded 33 saves for the Lumber Kings. Pembroke incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Cumberland's Reilly Turner stopped 26 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Grads incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
