Veronneau nets hat trick, leads Gloucester to 9-3 win over Nepean

The Nepean Raiders could not stop the Gloucester Rangers' Max Veronneau, who tallied a hat trick in a 9-3 win.

Veronneau got on the scoresheet 10:43 into the first period. He then added goals at 1:47 into the third and at 17:25 into the third.

Gloucester forced Nepean's goalies to work in net, launching 32 shots and forcing 23 saves. Ryan Mulder made 15 stops and Brett Magnus made eight. The Rangers stifled the Raiders' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Gloucester surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Rangers average 3.5 goals per game. The defensemen of Gloucester were also effective in Nepean's zone, and came away with two goals.

Gloucester also got points from Matt Rosebrook, who also had two goals and one assist, Trevor Dulong, who also registered two goals and one assist, and Greg Jansz, who also racked up one goal and four assists to lead the team in points. Gloucester also got a goal from Nicolas Beaudin as well. Other players who recorded assists for Gloucester were Ryan Kuffner, who had two, Matthieu Desautels, who had four, and Tristan Whynot, Dylan McDiarmid, and Vincent Guimond, who contributed one a piece.

The Raiders were helped by Wyatt Coghill, who tallied one goal and one assist. Coghill scored 8:36 into the third period to make the score 8-2 Gloucester. Josh Zizek picked up the assist. Nepean additionally got points from Zizek, who also had one goal and one assist. Keenan Hodgson also scored for Nepean. In addition, Nepean received assists from Jody Sullivan, William White, and Shane Riddell, who each chipped in one.

The Rangers' Doug Johnston stopped 21 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Gloucester incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Nepean incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
