Kemptville wins tough contest against Pembroke, 7-5Carleton Place Arena Sat, Feb 08, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Kemptville 73s and the Pembroke Lumber Kings were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Kemptville made the most of its opportunities and won, 7-5. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Dean Galasso's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Hayden Hanson was all over the ice for the 73s, as he registered two goals in the win. Hanson's tallies came on the power play at 16:14 into the second period to make the score 4-4 and short handed 13:18 into the third to make the score 6-4 Kemptville. Kemptville's penalty kill excelled, as the 73s gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays. Kemptville forced Lumber Kings' goalies to work between the pipes, totaling 48 shots and forcing 41 saves. Sean Keating made 38 stops and Darren Smith made three. The 73s bested their season scoring average. Kemptville averages 3.4 goals per game. Kemptville also got points from Quinn Carroll, who also grabbed one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Kemptville also got a goal from Alex Row as well. In addition, Kemptville received assists from Jesse Blais, who had two, Daniele Disipio, who had three, and Matt Martin, Brandon Seatter, and Erik Brown, who contributed one each. Pembroke forced the 73s goalie Matt Couvrette to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots. The Lumber Kings could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game. Pembroke was led by Dylan Staples, who had two goals and one assist. Staples scored the first of his two goals at 8:54 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Pembroke. Mark Petaccio assisted on the tally. Staples' next tally made the score 6-5 Kemptville with 3:16 left in the third period. The Lumber Kings had gotten the advantage when Kemptville's Disipio was sent off for high sticking. Felix Chamberland picked up the assist. Pembroke additionally got points from Chamberland, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Pembroke included Lucas Gonu and Stephan Beauvais, who each put in one. More assists for Pembroke came via Dylan Chase, Colin Kruse, Patrice Wren, and Keegan Harper, who each chipped in one. Couvrette recorded 38 saves for the 73s. Kemptville incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
