Momesso leads Smiths Falls over Gloucester, 5-2

Behind a great game by Stefano Momesso, who had one goal and two assists, the Smiths Falls Bears defeated the Gloucester Rangers, 5-2.

Momesso beat Doug Johnston with a shot 7:12 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Smiths Falls. Greg Jansz provided the assist.

Smiths Falls' penalty kill excelled, as the Bears gave up zero goals despite allowing 10 power plays.

In a losing effort, Gloucester was led by Maximian Veronneau, who finished with two goals. Veronneau scored the first of his two goals at 18:56 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jansz picked up the assist. Veronneau's next tally made the score 3-2 Smiths Falls with 6:50 left in the third period. Jansz assisted on the tally.

Smiths Falls stifled the Rangers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Gloucester was unable to stop the Bears from sending pucks towards the net, and Smiths Falls eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. The Bears could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game.

Smiths Falls also got points from Karson McCartney, who also had one goal and one assist. Smiths Falls also got a goal from Domenic Camastra as well. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Cory Simic, who had one.

The Rangers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Smiths Falls power plays.

Other players who recorded assists for Gloucester were Matt Rosebrook, who had one.

Cory Simic made 26 saves for Smiths Falls on 28 shots. Gloucester's Johnston stopped 31 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Rangers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
