Gloucester boosted by Johnston's play in net, beats Smiths Falls 2-1Earl Armstrong Arena Sun, Feb 02, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Doug Johnston had a standout game with 29 saves, and the Gloucester Rangers beat the Smiths Falls Bears 2-1. Gloucester was led by Matt Rosebrook, who tallied one goal. Rosebrook scored 5:18 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Gloucester. Trevor Dulong provided the assist. The Rangers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Smiths Falls to score on any of its four power plays. Gloucester also got a goal from Greg Jansz as well. In addition, Gloucester received assists from T Beveridge and Maximian Veronneau, who contributed one a piece. The Bears' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Gloucester power plays. Smiths Falls did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Bears average 3.9 goals per game. Smiths Falls was led by Chris King, who scored the team's only goal. King scored 5:55 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Smiths Falls. Alek Deblois picked up the assist. Gloucester incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Michael Pinios recorded 20 saves for the Bears. Smiths Falls incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
