Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Hawkesbury Hawks defeated the Cumberland Grads in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO). The two teams needed six turns to complete the shootout.Hawkesbury was sparked by Joshua Renaud, who racked up one goal. Renaud scored 13:01 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Hawkesbury. The Hawks were paced by Renaud, who registered one goal. Zach Car also scored for Hawkesbury. Cumberland excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Grads were helped by Riley Hennigar, who had two goals. Hennigar scored the first of his two goals at 1:20 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Mark Golberg assisted on the tally. Hennigar's next tally made the score 2-2 with 19 seconds left in the third period. David Bennett picked up the assist. More assists for Cumberland came via Neil Penner, who had one. Gunner Rivers recorded 19 saves for Hawkesbury. The Hawks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Reilly Turner made 27 saves for Cumberland on 29 shots. The Grads incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
