Smiths Falls downs Hawkesbury, 3-1

Zachary Senyshyn finished with one point to lead the Smiths Falls Bears to a 3-1 victory over the Hawkesbury Hawks.

Smiths Falls forced Hawkesbury goalie Gunner Rivers to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

Smiths Falls also had goals scored by Nic Marchand and Taylor Henry, who each put in one. In addition, Smiths Falls received assists from Chris MacMillan, Sebastien Barrette, Neil Doef, Victor Beaulac, and Stefano Momesso, who each chipped in one.

The Hawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Bears to score on any of their four power plays.

Hawkesbury was led by Damien Charette, who scored the team's only goal. Charette scored on the power play 9:25 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Hawks earned a power play opportunity when Karson McCartney was put in the box for major penalty. Zach Car provided the assist.

Cory Simic made 18 saves for Smiths Falls on 19 shots. The Bears ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. For Smiths Falls, McCartney was ejected from the game. Rivers rejected 37 shots on goal for Hawkesbury. The Hawks incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
