Huge game by Peterson boosts Carleton Place over Gloucester, 6-2Earl Armstrong Arena Fri, Jan 31, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Evan Peterson had two goals and one assist to lead the Carleton Place Canadians to a 6-2 victory over the Gloucester Rangers. Peterson's tallies came at 8:22 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Carleton Place and on the power play 5:11 into the second to make the score 4-0 Carleton Place.Carleton Place forced Gloucester's goaltenders to work between the pipes, finishing with 43 shots and forcing 37 saves. Nate Skidmore made 19 stops and Doug Johnston made 18. The Canadians stifled the Rangers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Carleton Place also got points from Stephen Baylis, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Carleton Place included Owen Stewart, Stephen Cooney, and Vinny Post, who scored one goal each. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Andy Sturtz, who had three, Elias Ghantous, Devin Campbell, and Adam Lloyd, who contributed one a piece, and Jim Roll and Brett DAndrea, who each chipped in two. Gloucester's offense rang up 31 shots on Carleton Place's net. The Rangers were led by Matthieu Desautels, who finished with one goal. Desautels scored 8:21 into the third period to make the score 5-2 Carleton Place. Max Veronneau assisted on the tally. Gloucester also got a goal from Michael DiBello as well. More assists for Gloucester came via Trevor Dulong and Chris Morgan, who contributed one a piece. Guillaume Therien made 29 saves for the Canadians on 31 shots. Carleton Place incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Gloucester incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
