Brockville holds on for 3-1 win against NepeanBrockville Memorial Centre Fri, Jan 31, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Nepean Raiders tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Brockville Braves held on for a 3-1 victory. A goal by Nathan Todd put Brockville up 3-0 in the second period, but Nepean pulled to within two on Brandon Watt's tally 10:16 into the third period. The Braves were led by goalie Andrew Pikul, who finished with 28 saves while allowing one goal. Pikul certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.0 entering the contest. Brockville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Raiders to score on any of their three power plays. The Braves kept Nepean's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ryan Mulder made 32 saves on 35 shots. Brockville also got a goal from Jack Billings as well. More assists for Brockville came via Owen Gill, Eric Israel, Cory Wilson, Sean King, Matthew Lourenco, and Andrew Peski, who contributed one a piece. The Raiders' offense operated below they season average. Nepean puts an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game. Other players who recorded assists for Nepean were Keenan Hodgson, who had one. Brockville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Raiders incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
