Huge game by Bayliss boosts Carleton Place over Nepean, 6-2

The Carleton Place Canadians' Stephen Bayliss had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 6-2 win over the Nepean Raiders.

Bayliss beat Brett Magnus with a shot 11:48 into the second period short handed to make the score 2-0 Carleton Place. A high sticking call on Evan Peterson put Carleton Place on the penalty kill. Jim Roll provided the assist. Bayliss dished an assist on Peterson's goal that made the score 4-1 Carleton Place at 16:40 into the second period. He added another helper on Andy Sturtz's goal that made the score 5-1 Carleton Place at 18:48 into the second period.

The Canadians forced Raiders' netminders to work without much rest, firing 42 shots and forcing 36 saves. Magnus made 25 stops and Ryan Mulder made 11. Carleton Place's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Nepean power plays.

Carleton Place also got points from Sturtz, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Brett DAndrea, who also had one goal and one assist, and Peterson, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Carleton Place included Elias Ghantous and Stephen Cooney, who scored one goal each. More assists for Carleton Place came via Adam Lloyd, who had two and John Owen Stewart, Vinny Post, and Craig Pefley, who each chipped in one.

Nepean excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

The Raiders were led by Francesco Iannantuono, who registered one goal. Iannantuono scored 13:56 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Carleton Place. Brandon Watt assisted on the tally. Nepean also got a goal from Keenan Hodgson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Nepean were Felix Page, Christopher Smith, and Mitchell Herlihey, who contributed one a piece.

Guillaume Therien made 20 saves for the Canadians on 22 shots. Carleton Place incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Nepean incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
