Smiths Falls vanquishes Kemptville in shootout, 4-3 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Smiths Falls Bears defeated the Kemptville 73s in a shootout 4-3 (2-0 SO).

The two teams needed five turns to complete the shootout. In addition to the clincher, Smiths Falls got a shootout goal from Stefano Momesso.

The Bears came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Smiths Falls was down 3-1 after a goal by Kemptville's Brandon Seatter at 18:52 in the second period. The Bears knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Brandon Lesway at 17:30 in the third period.

Smiths Falls was led by Zachary Senyshyn, who grabbed one goal. Senyshyn scored 3:52 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Kemptville. Daniel Lombardi provided the assist.

The Bears forced the 73s goalie Matt Couvrette to work between the pipes, taking 49 shots.

Chris MacMillan also scored for Smiths Falls. In addition, Smiths Falls received assists from Chris King, Michael Buonincontri, Taylor Henry, Momesso, and Michael Pinios, who each chipped in one.

Kemptville stifled Smiths Falls' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The 73s' offense rang up 34 shots on the Bears' net.

Kemptville additionally got points from Erik Brown, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Kemptville were Doug Harvey, Dean Galasso, Jesse Blais, Hayden Hanson, and Dylan Giberson, who contributed one a piece.

Pinios rejected 31 shots on goal for Smiths Falls. The Bears incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Couvrette recorded 45 saves for Kemptville. The 73s incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
