Jim Durrell Complex-Peplinski    Sat, Jan 25, 2014

The Ottawa Senators tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Brockville Braves held on for a 3-2 victory.

Brockville made the score 3-1 on a goal by Hayden Hulton at 8:20 in the third period, and Ottawa got as close as 3-2 when Joey Champigny scored 18:07 into the third period.

Hulton was all over the ice for the Braves, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Hulton scored the first of his two goals at 10:44 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Brockville. Eric Israel assisted on the tally. Hulton's next tally made the score Brockville with 11:40 left in the third period. Connor Bebb picked up the assist.

Brockville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Senators to score on any of their six power plays.

Sean King also scored for Brockville. In addition, Brockville received assists from Nathan Todd, who had one.

Ottawa forced the Braves goalie Andrew Pikul to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Ottawa also got a goal from Justin Charbonneau as well. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were Robert Michel, Luc Deschamps, and Matthew Dupont, who contributed one a piece.
