Hawkesbury rips Kemptville, 5-1Robert Hartley Sports Complex1 Fri, Jan 24, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Hawkesbury Hawks were firing on all cylinders against the Kemptville 73s, and when the final buzzer sounded Hawks emerged with a 5-1 win. Kemptville was stymied by Hawkesbury netminder Gunner Rivers, who stopped 32 shots during the victory. Rivers certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.8 entering the contest. The Hawks were sparked by Carl Faucher, who had one goal and one assist. Faucher scored on the power play 9:44 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Hawkesbury. Hawkesbury had gotten the advantage when the 73s' Cody Hendsbee was sent off for hooking. Daniel Brickley assisted on the tally. The Hawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Kemptville power plays. Kemptville was unable to stop Hawkesbury from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hawks eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Hawkesbury surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Hawks average 2.4 goals per game. Hawkesbury also had goals scored by Jake Roeper, who had two and Zach Car and CJ Stubbs, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Hawkesbury were Francis Landers, who had two and Damien Charette, Hugo Petit, and Jonathan Tecce, who contributed one a piece. The 73s could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Kemptville puts an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. The 73s forced Hawkesbury goalie Rivers to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Kemptville was hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled eight minors and one major for 21 minutes in penalty time. The Hawks totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. For Hawkesbury, Nicholas Legault was ejected from the game. The 73s' Matt Couvrette stopped 31 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Kemptville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Doug Harvey was ejected from the game. |
