Gloucester vanquishes Pembroke in shootout, 5-4 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Gloucester Rangers defeated the Pembroke Lumber Kings in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for five attempts between the teams.

Nicolas Brazeau had a great game for Gloucester, netting two goals. Brazeau's tallies came at 2:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Gloucester and 11:46 into the first to make the score 2-0 Gloucester.

The Rangers stifled Pembroke's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Others who scored for Gloucester included Clark Veenstra and Vincent Guimond, who scored one goal each. In addition, Gloucester received assists from Ryan Kuffner, who had two and Nicolas Beaudin, Matt Rosebrook, Matt Foget, Maximian Veronneau, and Greg Jansz, who contributed one a piece.

The Lumber Kings kept Gloucester's goalie busy throughout the game, and Doug Johnston made 45 saves on 49 shots.

Pembroke was led by Mark Petaccio, who had two goals and two assists. Petaccio scored the first of his two goals at 18:17 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Gloucester. Brandon Kosik picked up the assist. Petaccio's next tally made the score 3-3 with 10:09 left in the third period. Sam Gleason assisted on the tally. Pembroke additionally got points from Felix Chamberland, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Pembroke also got a goal from Steven Johnston as well. More assists for Pembroke came via Dylan Staples, who had three.

The Rangers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Sean Keating made 15 saves for the Lumber Kings on 19 shots. Pembroke incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
