Pembroke wins tough contest against Kanata, 5-3

The Pembroke Lumber Kings and the Kanata Stallions were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Pembroke made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Felix Chamberland at 14:14 of the third period.

Lucas Gonu had two goals to lead the Lumber Kings to victory. Gonu's tallies came at 4:32 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Pembroke and 19:39 into the third to make the score 5-3 Pembroke.

Pembroke also got points from Dylan Staples, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Patrice Wren also scored for Pembroke. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Dylan Chase, Kyle Shaw, and Stephan Beauvais, who contributed one a piece and Colin Kruse and Jordan Larson, who each chipped in two.

Kanata was helped by Braedan Moffatt, who had one goal. Moffatt scored on the power play 19:36 into the second period to make the score 3-3. A unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Keegan Harper had put the Stallions on the power play. Chris Harper picked up the assist. Kanata additionally got points from Harper, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Kanata also got a goal from Kris Myllari as well. More assists for Kanata came via Ian Johnson, Connor Cobbold, Devin Fullum, and Kasey Kulczycki, who contributed one a piece.

Sean Keating rejected 26 shots on goal for Pembroke. The Lumber Kings incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Cole Skinner made 25 saves for Kanata on 29 shots. The Stallions incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
