Cornwall downs Gloucester in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Cornwall Colts pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Gloucester Rangers on a clutch goal by Tanner Spink.

Spink had two goals and one assist to lead Cornwall. Spink scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 15:25 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Cornwall. The Colts had taken the advantage when Gloucester's Chris Morgan got sent off for slashing. Ross Craig assisted on the tally. Spink's next tally on the power play made the score 5-4 Cornwall with 17:58 left in overtime. Craig picked up the assist.

Cornwall's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Gloucester power plays. The Colts forced the Rangers goalie Doug Johnston to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Cornwall additionally got points from Grant Cooper, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Cornwall included Billy Ulrick and Kenny Nelson, who each put in one. More assists for Cornwall came via Dean Derouchie, Pierre Ouellette, and Matthew Cruickshank, who each chipped in one.

Gloucester kept Cornwall's goalie busy throughout the game, and Liam Lascelle made 31 saves on 35 shots. The Rangers' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Gloucester was led by Matt Rosebrook, who grabbed two goals. Rosebrook scored the first of his two goals at 14:48 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Cornwall. Matt Foget provided the assist. Rosebrook's next tally made the score 4-4 with 8:34 left in the third period. Nicolas Beaudin picked up the assist. Gloucester also had goals scored by Greg Jansz and Clark Veenstra, who scored one goal each. In addition, Gloucester received assists from Trevor Dulong, Ryan Kuffner, and Ethon MacLean, who contributed one a piece.

The Colts incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Doug Johnston made 30 saves for the Rangers on 35 shots. Gloucester incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
