Kemptville squeaks by Cumberland, 4-2

The game between the Kemptville 73s and the Cumberland Grads was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Kemptville emerged with a 4-2 win.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Daniele Disipio at 9:54 of the second period.

The 73s' penalty kill excelled, as Kemptville gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

The 73s were led by Disipio, who registered one goal and one assist.

Kemptville stifled Cumberland's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The 73s forced the Grads goalie Kevin Gollmer to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

Kemptville additionally got points from Brandon Seatter, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Kemptville also had goals scored by Cody Hendsbee and Erik Brown, who each put in one. More assists for Kemptville came via Dean Galasso, who had two and C Quinn, Jesse Blais, Matt Tugnutt, and Hayden Hanson, who each chipped in one.

Cumberland put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Kemptville to score on any of its seven power plays.

The Grads were helped by Mark Golberg, who had one goal. Golberg scored 15:51 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Cumberland. Travis Douglas provided the assist. Cumberland also got a goal from Brett Faber as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cumberland were Brandon Zullo, Riley Hennigar, and Matt Allan, who contributed one a piece.

Matt Couvrette recorded 27 saves for the 73s. Kemptville incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Kevin Gollmer made 36 saves for Cumberland on 40 shots. The Grads incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
